It
is proper etiquette to have sufficient flagpole lighting, when
flying an American flag after sunset. There are many
flagpole lighting solutions for those of you who would like to
light up your flags at night. Flagpole lighting can be a
bit tricky, since the flag moves in the wind. You need
to make sure that your flagpole lighting is on your flag, but
you do not want the flagpole lighting to illuminate the entire
town. One flagpole lighting tip, is to have the beam of
flagpole lighting match the width of the flag's maximum swing.
Flagpole lighting such as this, can be achieved with
adjustable in-ground, or above-ground flagpole lighting.
Some flagpole lighting comes in the pole-mounted variety.
There are usually two vertical beams; one on either side of
the flagpole. This type of flagpole lighting is not too
practical, since it may miss the flag entirely. There is
another type of flagpole lighting, however, that is attached
to the top of the pole. This flagpole lighting is dimmer than
other types of flagpole lighting, because the beam need not be
so long. This kind of flagpole lighting is very
effective, because the flagpole lighting follows your flag as it blows around the
pole. Another plus, is that your flagpole lighting is
pointing down, instead of up. This complies with all
light pollution regulations. Flagpole lighting will
enhance the beauty of your flag, because you can show your
colors at night, too. |
