It
is proper etiquette to have sufficient flag light, when flying
an American flag after sunset. There are many flag light
solutions for those of you who would like to light up your
flags at night. A flag light can be a bit tricky, since
the flag moves in the wind. You need to make sure that
your flag light is on your flag, but you do not want the flag
light to illuminate the entire town. One flag light tip,
is to have the beam of light match the width of the flag's
maximum swing. A flag light such as this, can be
achieved with an adjustable in-ground, or above-ground flag
light. Some flag light comes in the pole-mounted
variety. There are usually two vertical flag light beams; one on
either side of the flagpole. This type of flag light is
not too practical, since it may miss the flag entirely.
There is another type of flag light, however, that is attached
to the top of the pole. These lights are dimmer than
other types of flag light, because the beam need not be so
long. This kind of flag light is very effective, because
it follows your flag as it blows around the pole.
Another plus, is that your flag light is pointing down,
instead of up. This complies with all light pollution
regulations. |
